Location - East Village Liverpool

The East Village

The East Village developers undertook this revolutionary development project creating one of the UK's first Urban Villages. This represented a unique and inspirational move forward in the creation of mixed-use living. The East Village/RopeWalks area has become the focal point for Liverpool's artistic community, with several architects' practices, designers and niche retailers making it their base.

The East Village has been at the forefront of the City's renaissance. Echoing Liverpool's strong links with New York, both historically and now in the 21st century, the two cities are unofficially twinned. East Village is located in Madison Square within the Rope Walks area, a traditional part of Liverpool's shipping heritage and once a haven for travellers to stay, before emigration to the New World. Liverpool, renowned as a leading 19th Century shipping port, displays its strong heritage through the streets of the city. The legacy is apparent from the momentous buildings, the acclaimed dock area, and the very location of East Village standing resplendent within the core of an epoch-making quarter.

Chinese Arch

East Village also borders China Town, the oldest in Europe. The development offers panoramic views of some of the most spectacular architecture, including The Three Graces on the waterfront. East Village also stands in the shadow of the largest Gothic Revival Cathedral in Britain, the monumental Cathedral Church of Christ. The city's architectural treasures are a mere glimpse away.

Liverpool is highly regarded as a centre for original and high quality restaurants. The East Village is already home to four successful eateries;

  • Sapporo Teppanyaki - A Japanese restaurant that has recently been voted one of the top 5 Japanese restaurants in the UK by Sky One. A further branch opened in Manchester in late 2005.
  • Il Forno - known for its authentic Italian pizzas, home made ice cream and pastries, and its show stopping pizza oven creating a focal point for diners. Named one of the Top 10 authentic Italian restaurants by The Times Knowledge magazine. Chef Vito, who was crowned the ‘Winner of the International Pizza Making Championship 2007’, dazzled the judges with two specially created pizzas, topped with the finest ingredients from the UK and Italy.
  • Savina – This establishment has been described as "trendy, smart and very Mexican" by the Daily Post and the "city's classiest cantina" by the Liverpool Echo. Traditional Mexican dishes to modern Mexico city dishes, Savina aims to provide a fine dining Mexican experience in a modern atmosphere.
  • Mayur - Bringing an authentic taste of India to Merseyside while retaining an air of European sophistication, Mayur is a welcome change from the typical Tandoori. The contemporary interior is opulent yet welcoming. Chef Uday Seth has brought a modern take to authentic Indian cuisine through his stylish, delicious dishes which are easy on the eye as well as the palate.
