Sport In Liverpool

Red or blue, you can tour both of Liverpool's football stadiums at Liverpool or Everton. The world famous Grand National is run every year in April, and in September we see the start of the Clipper Round the World race. Royal Birkdale plays host to the Open Golf Championships next summer, while racing returns to Merseyside for November's North West Masters meet.
Football

Possibly one of the most important questions asked in Liverpool… are you a Blue or a Red? Everton and Liverpool clubs are within 4 miles of Element 11’s apartment and both clubs also offer stadium and trophy room tours. Tranmere Rovers is also only 5 miles away on the Wirral.
Golf

As well as football, Liverpool is at the heart of Britain's best collection of golf courses. It is not surprising then, that one-third of British Open championships since 1960 have been held at Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham - all within an hours drive from the city centre. Other championship standard courses include Formby, West Lancashire, Hillside, Hesketh and Southport and Ainsdale. In Merseyside alone, there are 40 golf clubs including municipal courses at Allerton, Kirkby, Bowring Park and Arrow Park.
Sailing

Given Liverpool’s enviable position on the River Mersey, the Albert Docks have become home to round-the-world yacht races, historic tall ships events, river festivals plus sailing clubs, yacht clubs and regattas. Liverpool will again host the start and finish of the internationally renowned Clipper Race in 2007-8.
Horse Racing

Not only is Liverpool home to Aintree Racecourse, the historic venue of the Grand National, but it is also close to Chester and Haydock Park racecourses which have many meetings throughout the year, some of them held in the evening.
Arena Sports
ACC Liverpool opens in 2008 and with its opening it brings an array of sporting events never before hosted in Liverpool. Some events in its first year are the British International Supercross Championship, Premier League Darts, Dunlop British Open Squash, World Firefighter Games and more will continue to be announced as time goes on.
More exciting sports
